IIME commands a firm research base, combining commitment with technical enterprise and consistently works towards rural upliftment and development of Rajasthan. Its holistic approach ensures that people from deprived sections of society are provided with new opportunities in a variety of streams. The Institute has implemented numerous projects in the field of rural and agricultural development at the request of the municipal boards and gram panchayats of particular areas. The beneficiaries of these programmes are both from the urban and rural areas of Rajasthan. IIME continues to be engaged in agriculture and organic farming, development of training material, preservation of the environment and ecology, low-cost sanitation, water harvesting, housing, vocational training programmes, nutrition and health programmes, non-formal adult education, programmes for women and children, public health and stabilisation of population programmes, and sports development, amongst others. The Institute also works towards skill development in areas of industrial and entrepreneurship development.

OPINIONS AND APPRECIATION

Girdharilal Bhargav, former Member of Parliament, had written to the Government of India: ‘IIME has done laudable social work and carried out several welfare programmes related to social forestry, agriculture, environment, family planning and public health, and conducted training courses for the weaker sections of society. It has also encouraged advanced research and literacy through scholarships, stipends, prizes and awards to meritorious students and scholars, while simultaneously paying special attention to the non-formal education of women and children. IIME has also given grants to students of weaker sections of society for career-oriented courses.’

Kanhaiyalal Meena, MLA, Rajasthan Legislative Assembly, while appreciating IIME’s ‘Earn and Learn’ programme and night vocational classes programme had commented: ‘These programmes of IIME have instilled new hope in the unemployed youth, while the health camps organised as a part of the Institute’s health initiatives have proved to be very popular amongst the villagers.’
